ROBOT HELL

OOC INFO
Name: Anna
Contact: You know how to get in touch with me B(
Other characters: IDW... Starscream... I'm a joke.

IC INFO
Name: Starscream
Canon/Continuity: Prime
Reference: UGH THIS IS SO MUCH EFFORT
Canon Point: End of S3
Personality:

The infamous Decepticon forces count a wide variety of scumbags amongst their number, but Starscream is widely regarded as one of the most unpleasant and The Biggest Piece of Work out of them all. Outwardly he is extremely arrogant; under the public eye he always carries himself highly and lords what power he has over his inferiors at every appropriate opportunity. What’s obvious to anyone with a lick of perceptiveness is that it’s all a facade that just barely covers some massive self esteem issues. Vanity is his worst vice, and he does not respond well to not being taken seriously, or any implications that he is, perhaps, not as good as he thinks he is. This is evident in the fact that he is prone to flying off the handle when harassed regarding his authority as second in command, or when he is called out on his constant attempts at trying to reach above his position. The canon examples of this are numerous: at one point in the intro mini series, when a character that he is holding as prisoner makes a cheeky joke about being displeased with service in the Decepticon holding cells and wanting to ‘speak to a manager’, Starscream gracefully responds by throwing a momentary tantrum, asserting that he is the one calling the shots and then retaliating with physical violence. He displays a similar reaction whenever he is referred to as “Commander” instead of “Lord” during the brief amount of time in which he was actually in charge of the Decepticons while Megatron was unable to command.

In his own twisted little mind, everything is Starscream's by right; he was accustomed to great privilege back on Cybertron (he tends to fling his former status as an air commander back on Cybertron around in particular, at one point using that tactic to try and get Airachnid to respect him. Unsurprisingly this doesn’t really have the intended effect), so he automatically considers most other beings beneath him; usually a firm display of force is the only thing direct enough to make him reconsider this position. When that does happen, he switches channels between authoritative and simpering with ridiculous ease, since at the core he is actually a gigantic coward. As soon as Starscream has calculated that a plan is going south, he is almost always the first to
jump ship in an attempt to save his own skin.
There is no person his inherent sycophancy comes into play with more than Megatron, his liege and master. Once upon a time Starscream respected the old bot, but years and years of war have changed things and Starscream now sees him as unhinged and unfit to rule. It is his constant, unyielding goal to seize power from Megatron, but so far all he’s proven is that he lacks the subtlety and foresight to actually pull it off, being particularly inept at hiding his true intentions and often prone to panicking when the slightest thing goes awry. More often than not his power grabs leave him wounded and begging for mercy.

In summary, the number one most pathetic thing this robot is that he has the combat skill and the mental capacity to be an effective and truly frightening foe…… but this is completely overshadowed by the worst personality imaginable.

AU Information: I'm bringing Starscream over from a shitty self-indulgent AU that you don't need to know the precise details of OK basically he's been stuck with no one but his Megatron for like, several months or so coming in from the end of S3 as canon point and right now he's having a lot of awkward moral confusion and weird emotional issues. Point is, he's at kind of a ideal point for either lashing out really badly or actually possibly being reluctantly helpful and getting positive CR, depending on how things go.

(no subject)

As always, Starscream gets his leads from the internet. Enough skulking around on the human network and you were bound to find rumors of something.

He'd flown to Japan this time, chasing rumors of some Cybertronian artifact or another. The sakura petals were blowing and his kokoro was-- no Okay he was just walking through the woods at the moment, trying to pinpoint the exact location of some ruins that he'd heard about. And then suddenly...

Was that a cybertronian life signal he was picking up...?

Canon Point: Post "Rock Bottom" (S1/Ep 19)

Is your character Dead, Undead or Alive: Alive!

History: His wiki article is actually a pretty expansive!

Personality: The most defining characteristics of Starscream include a ridiculously insatiable ambition and an ego even larger than the known universe. He's shrewd, and unexpectedly adept at reading and manipulating people (knowing where and when to assert his authority and brown nose relentlessly depending on the situation).

His boundless ego and confidence mask something of a rather fragile self esteem; vanity is his worst vice and he does not respond well to not being taken seriously or the notion that he's not as good as he thinks he is. He is prone to flying off the handle when harassed regarding his authority as second in command, or regarding his constant attempts at trying to reach above his position. The canon examples of this are numerous: at one point in the intro mini series, when another character cheekily suggests that he’d like to speak with a superior, Starscream responds by essentially throwing a miniature tantrum, asserting that he is the one calling the shots in that scenario.

Items on your character at canon point: Not much. He generally comes equipped with missiles on his arms, and everything else is just naturally built into his anatomy.

Abilities, Strengths and Weaknesses:

Being a LARGE ALIEN ROBOT, he has a few notable physical abilities. Like most of his kind, he can transform:

Jet mode: Missile launchers, wing mounted guns, flight and speed.

Robot mode:

 • Melee combat capability (he’s actually fairly adept hand to hand)

 • ridiculously sharp talons that he’s fond of plunging into other people’s chest cavities with

 • null ray blasters

 • energon weapons

 • wrist mounted rocket launchers

 • robot strength…? (This one is circumstantial, he’s definitely strong enough to overpower your average organic but certain supernatural entities and other robots would more than likely give him some trouble)

Strengths: Sucking up to people to get what he wants, lying (to an extent, as long as he’s keeping his cool), being extremely melodramatic and playing people’s perceptions of himself for the purpose of deceit and backstabbing.

Weaknesses: Cowardice is a big one. He’s also prone to panicking really easily, which isn’t exactly a helpful trait to have when you’re trying to play criminal mastermind. Easily goaded when it comes to matters that are damaging to his exceptionally fragile ego (which really, anything that falls under the category of questioning his authority will do the trick).

Prose Log Sample:

You would think that maybe just once, they could pull off a mission without running into any obstacles. But no, every single time, without fail, something would inevitably get in the way. This time it was sentient plants, of all things.

For his part, Starscream was doing a fair bit of fancy flying. He was completely in his element , rolling and weaving through the writhing mass with admirable agility (if there was one thing he excelled at it was avoidance). Unfortunately, his weapons weren't making much of a dent on the vegetation, the vines being too quick and numerous to risk wasting a null missile on. They were going to need to attack the source of this if they were going to make any progress.

He started to voice this observation to Megatron as he did a particularly spectacular roll and then blasted directly upwards, only to find that he could not locate him.... Starscream skimmed the hideously wriggling jungle below and caught sight of Megatron just in time to see him snagged and pulled under.

For a moment, he was utterly thrilled. He couldn't have asked for a better outcome to this little field trip, to be frank. One hard bank back in the direction that they had come from and he could return as a somber heir to the position of power that he had always dreamt of, had always deserved.

But it was too easy, he realized with disgust. Not even just in regards to his own lofty ambitions of taking down the old warlord himself, but from a logical standpoint. No matter how dire things looked, Megatron would find his way out of there (Starscream had seen him escape from far worse, after all), and when he did, he would let Starscream have it. Besides which, there was a part of him that still respected Megatron too much to simply let him be ripped apart by plants of all things, he supposed.

No, it was safer to assist, he conceded, and with an exasperated yell he streaked downwards, fury overriding self-preservation. Firearms weren't going to cut it-- but he did have something in his arsenal that would. He transformed and landed hard on top of Megatron's ensnared jet mode (he smirked a little bit at that), his claws unfurled as he began to slash violently at the attacking plants.

Preferred contact: Tumblr or AIM (thesnarkypossum)
Other characters: Neku Sakuraba (reluctantproxy)

CHARACTER STUFF
Name: Starscream
Aliases: EMPEROR OF DESTRUCTION, "that stiletto heeled freak", first lieutenant of the Decepticon army.
Canon: Transformers aligned continuity (includes WFC/FOC/Prime)
Role: Villain
Species: Cybertronian
Gender: Male technically I suppose. He's a giant alien robot so who cares really.
Age: 6 Million years old. At least.
Appearance: Robot, Plane, Holo-matter Avatar

Origin story:
In the several million year long (and still going strong) Autobot Decepticon war, both sides have seen their share of victories and losses. Starscream arrives on Earth still feeling the fresh sting of one of the more spectacular losses. Given authority over a military campaign on another alien planet off Cybertron, things took an unfortunate turn for the worse (to no fault of his own, of course!) and ended with the Decepticon troops with their backs metaphorically against the wall and staring down the barrels of a lot of Autobot guns. Ever the self preservationist, Starscream cut his losses and turned tail at first chance, speeding through the nearest space bridge in a panic without the slightest notion of where he was going. Thus, he ended up on Earth.

The first few months on the planet were spent moving cautiously and observing the local lifeforms for information, determined to have some sort of noteworthy victory or resource to bring back to the Decepticon cause in the hopes of avoiding punishment for his sudden desertion. This mainly involved a lot of careful investigation of government activity, mineral survey records, etc. Fortunately being in a setting with so many superheroes and tech savvy rich assholes, his bizarre alien jet mode didn't raise too many eyebrows, and being a robot, getting into these networks posed almost no challenge. And then of course, he fucked it all up colossally when he finally decided to scan an earth based vehicle mode.

On this particular night, he was sneaking (as much as an oversizedl robot can sneak, anyway) around a military base, attempting to scan fighter jet for replication so that he might blend in better. Unfortunate timing lead to a run in with a patrolling security guard, who he swiftly snuffed... but not before a message of alarm was sent out across the compound. Completing the scan of his new vehicle mode, Starscream immediately made a swift escape, but sustained a rather devastating injury in the process: a lucky shot damaged his T-cog, the cyber-organic organ that grants Cybertronians their ability to shift form, thus trapping him in vehicle mode.

At present, he is hiding himself amongst the extensive hangar of yet another military base more closely situated to LA, severely hindered by mode lock, with most of his business and plotting restricted to being carried out by a long range broadcasted "holomatter" avatar of a human guise. His next plan is to scope out somehow he can potentially trust, an ally of some sort that can maybe heal him or otherwise get him what he needs……..

Personality:
Starscream's most defining characteristics include two things: a ridiculously insatiable ambition, and an ego even larger than the known universe. He's shrewd, and incredibly adept at reading and manipulating people (knowing where and when to assert his authority and brown nose relentlessly depending on the situation).
His boundless ego and confidence mask something of a rather fragile self esteem; vanity is his worst vice and he does not respond well to not being taken seriously or the notion that he's not as good as he thinks he is. Back with the Decepticons, he was prone to flying off the handle when harassed regarding his authority as second in command and his constant attempts at trying to reach above this position. Most likely he would have the same sort of reaction were a similar situation to present itself on Earth.

In his head, everything is Starscream's by right. He's accustomed to great privilege back on Cybertron, so he automatically considers most other beings beneath him; usually a firm display of force is the only thing direct enough to make him reconsider this position. When that does happen, he switches channels between authoritative and simpering with ridiculous ease. Though he talks a big game, in action he is actually a gigantic coward. As soon as Starscream has calculated that a plan is going south, he is always the first to jump ship in an attempt to save his own skin.

In summary, the number one most pathetic thing this robot is that he has the combat skill and the mental capacity to be an effective and truly frightening foe…… but this is completely overshadowed by the worst personality imaginable.

Differences from canon: Major differences are actually physical; his robot mode is scaled down in size a bit in order to balance out his power to a more game friendly level, putting his robot mode at roughly 12 feet. Abilities are temporarily hampered by his mode locked state, and even when he manages to regain his ability to change form, he is still handicapped by limited energon resources on earth, meaning he needs to plan his moves and aim his shots much more carefully. Any past relations with other Decepticons I am leaving intentionally vague because you never know who might show up.

Power level: While mode-locked, probably in the high C to B range. Regaining full control of his abilities once more would likely place him at an A rank.

Powers: Being a LARGE ALIEN ROBOT, there's a few.
 • Overall: ~hacking~ capability (he's a robot, breaking through digital security is a no-brainer). Kissing ass.
 • Jet mode: Missile launchers, wing mounted guns, flight and speed.
 • Robot mode: Melee combat capability, ridiculously sharp talons, null ray blasters and energon weaponry, wrist mounted rocket launchers, large-robot strength.
 • Holo-Matter Avatar: This probably requires a bit of explanation. The tech utilized was actually originally invented by the Autobots, but has been replicated for Decepticon use in missions requiring a more stealthy touch on inhabited alien planets. It can be broadcast up to several miles away from Starscream's true physical body, though it's worth noting that the farther away it's placed, the more easily traced the broadcast signal is. The avatar basically just functions as as a useful front for interacting with the local lifeforms, and being a hard light projection means that he can use it to interact with the physical world, carrying back objects and useful supplies. It's generally useless in combat; it can throw a few punches perhaps, but the physical coordination of the technology is not super precise. Harming the avatar doesn't really greatly harm Starscream's physical body, but damaging and disrupting it can cause negative feedback on his processor and essentially give him a massive headache. Shorting out or destroying it all together will temporarily blow out the generators for it and leave him with a massive processor-ache.
Team affiliation: None, though he is looking for a potential ally. Were the other Decepticon forces to make it to Earth during the game and he were allowed back, he would gladly rejoin their numbers.

First person sample:

(The following is a message that Starscream would probably upload to something like The Underground in the hopes of possibly gaining allies through striking fear in the hearts of men or some other bullshit like that.)

Topic: ATTENTION PATHETIC ORGANIC FLESH BAGS OF EARTH

I am commandeering one of your "threads" to bring you an important message: Your planet stands on the brink of destruction. The Decepticon forces stand at ready to protect your Earth and the considered Energon sources buried within, all thanks to I, Starscream, First Lieutenant to the mighty lord Megatron. Though our numbers are formidable, even we do not have the capability to protect you all. Those who wish to gain our favor will pledge their allegiance and assistance to me now, in exchange for protection against the rapidly approaching army of the wretched Autobots. You have been warned.
